You have two high performing individuals on your team. Each consistently outperforms their KPIs each month as they compete to be the top performer.
But their relationship can quite acrimonious – often making snide remarks about each other in team meetings (which can range from playful jibes to being mean-spirited). Other members of the team have complained to you about the negative atmosphere that their relationship creates – and there has been some staff turnover with people reporting a “toxic culture” in their exit interviews citing the behaviour of these two individuals. Overall, the team just meets its KPIs which would likely not be the case without the contribution of these two individuals.
How might you best approach the situation?
